Obituary


Alys M. Berlin, went to her Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne. Born on September 4, 1929, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Fred M. and Agnes (Heidrich) Vaughn. She grew up in the Arcola area, where she attended the Arcola public school system.

Survivors are her sons, Roger of Fort Wayne, Steven (Catherine) of New Haven, Indiana and Ronald of Arcola; two grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Sherck and Christine (Brad) Springer; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Micah; sisters, June (Gordan) Koontz, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and...

Alys M. Berlin, went to her Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne. Born on September 4, 1929, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Fred M. and Agnes (Heidrich) Vaughn. She grew up in the Arcola area, where she attended the Arcola public school system.

Survivors are her sons, Roger of Fort Wayne, Steven (Catherine) of New Haven, Indiana and Ronald of Arcola; two grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Sherck and Christine (Brad) Springer; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Micah; sisters, June (Gordan) Koontz, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Virginia Gall of Alexandria, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis and by a sister, Hillis Willig; brothers, Marion, Ronald, Kenneth, and James Vaughn.

Alys was employed at National Plastics Corporation for over 12 years. She was a member of Arcola United Methodist church where she was a part of the women's group. She loved all children and volunteered her time at Arcola Elementary school. She also volunteered for the Rescue Mission among other places.

Funeral services will be at C.M. Sloan and Sons, Friday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. with calling Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given in memory to Arcola United Methodist Church.
